In the foreground, a fluorescent lamp, a speaker for listening in on the railroad wire grapevine; dispatcher, chatter from other interlocking towers, perhaps even engine crew radio. Presumably the foreground items are perched upon the tower operator's desk, on November 14th of 1973, it was 10:25 AM, Hammond Indiana time.
